Design decisions range from how many pages to how to size the image file so that it produces a crisp, clean image on the printed page, I know what works and offer best practices with your minimal input or if you like, get more involved!
You should know: You represent and warrant that you own or have the right to the images and photos submitted for your book; and that the images and photos do not violate the privacy rights, publicity rights, copyright rights, or other rights of any person or entity. Designers & printers reserve the right to de-select any suspect image.
- How many photos for your book?
- Use ALL the photos shared or allow us some latitude to be creative?
- How many pages for your book?
- Dimensions of your book (e.g. 8 x 10 inches, 7 x 7).
- What print vendor is preferred?
- How many photos per page, how dense?
- Keep your photos in chronological order? Or?
- For those special people, places and memories, or captions, send a list with picture file name and the who or what is in the photo.
- Send original photos – no editing please. (It results in orange people and fuzzy prints.)
- Don’t provide anything offensive, illegal, or that may harass anyone. (e.g. No pornography or other sexually explicit content.)
- Select the orientation of your book. (portrait or landscape)
- Select the type of book. (hard cover, soft cover, spiral bound, leather cover, PDF)
- Select from a choice of approved print vendors.
- How will you share images? SmugMug is preferred. (Any photo media will be return upon completion of the project.)
- We can have your book printed and ship the book to you or we can design the book and you can order a print version online. Which will you choose?
