For masterful cuisine and fine dining, you’ll be hard pressed to beat the Mirabelle anywhere in Colorado. The Mirabelle is located at the entrance gate to Beaver Creek resort and is a short walk from where you’ll be staying for the 109 West tour. Award-winning Belgian Master Chef Daniel Joly twists the traditional to create his famously light, but filling, contemporary French cuisine. Select from Belgian brews or the fine wine list to accompany your special evening at the invitingly rustic 1902 landmark residence and enjoy the hospitality of Nathalie. Hopefully deck weather will greet us there!
During the last year, we’ve added the Northside Cafe to our list of favorites in Avon. The owner, Jim, hosts week-night bicycle rides up the Bachelor Gulch USAPCC route and other great local climbs. But its not just the cycling-connection that brings us to the Northside. They offer up Peets coffee and the order/serve yourself style is casual, simple and efficient for those of us wanting to chow-down on their fabulous lamb-hash at breakfast. During the 109 West tour (before embarking on the casual, down-river ride to Dotsero) get in a few thousand feet of climbing at Bachelor Gulch or Mountain Star followed by breakfast and a great cup of coffee at the Northside.
Craving Mexican food? Fiesta Jalisco serves up margarita specials on a regular basis along side their own cabbage-pico de gallo. Everyone we know gravitates to a style of Mexican as their favorite (or one of their favorites) and for us the Burrito Loco Azado with green chile hits the spot. Within walking distance of the Westin, you’ll be served an extra pitcher of water at your table and enjoy ample seating if you arrive early. Fiesta Jalisco is a small, family-run Colorado chain so you may have encountered them in Craig, Steamboat Springs or elsewhere.
